Rice to a 76-68 win at Fresno State. Jason McKrieth also ha d a double-double for the Owls with 14 points and 11 rebounds. It was the fifth-straight victory for Rice over the Bulldogs.
Boise State won its first conference road game of the year with a
72-69 victory at San Jose State. Jason Ellis led the Broncos with 18 points while teammate Jermaine Blackburn contributed 16. Marquin Chandler led the Spartans with 18 points.
Nick Fazekas was named the WACs Player of the Week on Monday and then scored 15 points and had 15 rebounds in a
70-56 win over Tulsa for the 25th-ranked Wolf Pack. Nevada improved to 21-5 (13-2 in the WAC), its best start since the 1945-46 season.
Miner Omar Thomas scored a game-high 27 points in
UTEPs 71-67 win at Hawaii. The victory gave UTEP a season-sweep of the Rainbow Warriors.
Nevada sophomore forward Nick Fazekas is the WACs leading scorer with 21.0 points per game. Louisiana Tech sophomore forward Paul Millsap leads the conference in rebounding with 11.8 rebounds per game. UTEP senior guard Filiberto Rivera is the WAC leader in assists with 6.6 per contest.
