Nampa, Idaho -- The 2005 Western Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship began Wednesday at Jacksons Track in Nampa, Idaho, with the first four events of the men's heptathlon. Utah States Reece Hulbert is in the lead with 2,932 points. In second is Ryan Lang of Idaho with 2,769 points, while Gary Anderson of Rice is in third with 2,683 points. The Championship continues Thursday with the conclusion of the heptathlon and the women's pentathlon at 4:00 p.m. (MT).

Winning the first event of the night, the 60m, was Anderson. His time of 7.07 earned him 858 points. Taking the long jump with a distance of 7.07 meters was Lang, registering 830 points. The shot put went to Marcus Luckstead of Idaho with a throw of 12.69m. The final event of the evening was the high jump, where Hulbert cleared 2.04m for 840 points and the lead.
The meet continues Thursday with the final three events of the men's heptathlon. The 60m hurdles starts at 4:30 p.m., with the pole vault and 1,000m to follow. The women get started at 4:00 p.m. with the pentathlon. The five events include the 60m hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump and 800m.
The full slate of individual events begins Friday with the mile at 4:00 p.m.
