DENVER Rices Pablo Solares and Idahos Manuela Kurrat have been named the Western Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week.
Solares, a sophomore from Richardson, Texas, won the 800 meters at the Houston Indoor Classic with the time of 1:52.39. Solares also ran the lead off leg of the distance medley relay, with the Owls winning in 10:11.90.
Kurrat, a senior from Halle, Germany, won the pentathlon at the McDonalds Collegiate with an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 4,061 points. Her point total is currently the second-best mark in the country, best mark in the WAC and an Idaho record. Kurrat set personal bests in each of the five events.
