    WAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
    Nevadas Alyssa Chin, a senior from La Canada, Calif., won three individual events and swam on the Wolf Packs second place 200-yard medley relay team in her final meet for Nevada at Lombardi Pool. Chin won the 100-yard backstroke (57.20), 200-yard backstroke (2:03.05) and the 200-yard IM (2:07.59) as the Wolf Pack swept a double dual with San Jose State and Tulane.

    TEAMS IN THE CSCAA TOP 25
    SMU and Hawaii continue to be ranked the CSCAA Poll. SMU fell one spot to No. 7 after suffering losses to Texas and Arizona. Hawaii moved up three positions to No. 19 after a win over Washington. Both teams finished the 2003-04 season in the top 25 and finished 1-2, respectivley, at the WAC Championship.

    SMU DEFEATS RICE, 125-76
    No. 6 SMU improved their dual meet record to 4-3 on the season, as they defeated Rice, 125-76, at Perkins Natatorium. SMU was victorious in nine of the 11 events held. Two-time NCAA Champion Flavia Rigamonti continued her dominance in the distance free events, winning the 1,000 free in 9:48.75, almost 22 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. The Mustangs also won both relay events to bookend the impressive evening.

    NEVADA TOPS SAN JOSE STATE, 125-76
    In double-dual action at the Lombardi Pool on the campus of Nevada, the Wolf Pack picked up their 14th win of the season downing San Jose State 95-45 and Tulane 82-58. Tulane also defeated San Jose State 91-48 in the meet. Nevada now improves to 14-1 in dual meet action for the season. The Wolf Pack dominated winning 10 of the 16 events with a total of 23 top-three finishes.

    TEAMS PREPARE FOR WAC CHAMPIONSHIP
    SMU is the lone school with a meet before the 2005 WAC Championship in San Antonio, Feb. 23. SMU travels to Long Island, N.Y., this week to compete in the World Cup. This meet will serve as the Mustangs last before the conference meet. The Mustangs are in their final season in the WAC (C-USA) and are looking to go out with their 10th-straight conference title. Nineteenth ranked Hawaii and Nevada look to have the best shot at knocking off SMU.

    WAC ADDS TWO AFFILIATE MEMBERS
    The Western Athletic Conference announced that invitations for affiliate membership have been issued to and accepted by the University of San Diego and Northern Arizona to join the conference effective the 2004-05 season. Northern Arizona is a member of the Big Sky Conference, but its swimming and diving team competes in the National Independent Conference (NIC). It has done so since the 1998-99 season. The Lumberjacks have finished outside the top three at the NIC Championships only once, finishing second four times. San Diego is a member of the West Coast Conference, but its swimming and diving team competes in the Pacific Collegiate Swimming Conference (PCSC).

    PALO ALTO TO HOST 2005 WAC CHAMPIONSHIP
    The 2004-05 WAC Championship will be held in San Antonio at the Palo Alto College Natatorium, February 23-26, 2005. The WAC returns to the Alamo City for its fifth-consecutive year. SMU has won the last seven championships, and will be competing in its last year as a WAC member.

    NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION
    The 2005 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships will be held, March 13-17 at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center in West Lafayette, Ind. Purdue will serve as the host institution. NCAA Diving Zones will be held March 10-13 at each regions selected site.

    WAC TO ADD NEW MEMBER IN 2005
    New Mexico State and Idaho will join the Western Athletic Conference, beginning July 1, 2005. Both members and their swiming and diving programs will help continue the success the has had. The Aggies are led by head coach John Fedena, while the Vandals head coach is Tom Jager.
