The Rice men's basketball team will play in the NIT in an opening round game at Southwest Missouri State (18-12) on Wednesday, March 16. The Owls are 19-11 after advancing to the semifinals of the WAC Tournament were they lost to eventual champion UTEP. It is the second year in a row that Rice has received an invitation to the NIT.
