    WAC GOLFER OF THE WEEK
    SMUs Dan Kleckner, a sophomore from Houston, Texas, finished tied for second with a two-under, 142 at the Louisiana Classic. He posted rounds of 72-70 in the rain shortened event, leading the Mustangs to their fourth-straight title at the event. Kleckner was one of just four players to finish the tournament under par. As a team, SMU finished six-over to take the title with a 582.

  • Other men nominated: Adam Choy, Boise State; Jeff Krakowiak, Rice and Ryan Henry, Tulsa.

    SMU WINS FOURTH-STRAIGHT LOUISIANA CLASSIC
    SMU won its fourth consecutive Louisiana Classic championship at the Oakbourne Country Club with a two-round total of six-over-par 582. Tulsa and Kent State finished tied for second with a seven-over-par 583. Louisvilles Daryl Fathauer shot a final-round three-under-par 69 to win the rain-shortened event, while SMU's Dan Kleckner finished tied for second with a two-under-par 142. Kleckner was one of just four players to finish the tournament under par.

    GOLF CHANNEL SEGMENT FEATURING FRESNO STATE
    Fresno State will be featured on The Golf Channels "College Central" on Thursday (March 17) at 8 p.m. Bulldog golfers Laura Luethke and Ryan Carter will guide viewers on a tour of the Fresno State campus and local golf courses. Locations highlighted on the half-hour show include the Save Mart Center, the new Science II Building, Bulldog Stadium, the enology department and various Fresno golf courses. The segment on Fresno State will run at the end of the show.

    2005 WAC CHAMPIONSHIP
    The 2005 WAC Championship will be held May 2-4, at Squire Creek in Ruston, La. Louisiana Tech is the host of this years event. SMU looks to defend its title and earn another automatic bid to the NCAA Regional.

    NCAA REGIONALS
    The 2005 NCAA Regionals will be held May 19-21 at three sites. The East Region is slated for the Golf Club of Tennessee in Nashville, Tenn. (SEC). The Central Region will be played at the Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind. (Notre Dame). The West Region heads to the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif. (Stanford)

    NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP
    The 2005 NCAA Championships will travel to the east and the Caves Valley Golf Course in Baltimore, Md. Caves Valley and Loyla College (Md.) will host the event June 1-4. SMU was the lone team to qualify, while UTEPs Chris Baryla earned an individual nod.

    WELCOME TO THE WAC
    Next season, Idaho, New Mexico State and Utah State will join the WAC. All three schools sponsor a mens golf program. The schools will join the WAC July 1, 2005.
