DENVER Louisiana Techs Jason Morgan and Latonia Wilson have been named the Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week.

Morgan, a junior from Waterford, St. Catherine, Jamaica, won the shot put and discus competitions at the Louisiana Classics hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette in the outdoor opener for Tech. He had a shot put throw of 16.47 meters before posting a discus mark of 51.73m The discus throw was good enough to reach the NCAA regional qualifying standard while the shot put mark came up just short.

Wilson, a sophomore from Amite, La., clocked a regional-qualifying time of 11.74 in the 100 meters to take first place at the Louisiana Classics hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette in the outdoor opener for Tech. She also ran on the 400-meter relay team that also claimed first place with a time of 45.66. That time is also a NCAA regional qualifying mark. The 4X100 meter relay team finished 15th at the NCAA Championships last May and Tech returns all four member of that relay team.
