DENVER Hawaiis Bryon Weinberg has been named the Western Athletic Conference Mens Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 29. This is his first honor of the spring.
Weinberg, a junior from Ontario, Canada, went 2-0 in singles play last week. He defeated then-No. 60 Nic Beuque of San Diego, who is now ranked No. 52, 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7) in a super-tiebreaker for the teams only point in a 6-1 loss. He also swept Justin Yeager of Xavier, 7-5, 6-1, in the teams 7-0 victory. Weinberg has won four-straight singles matches at the No. 2 court and six of seven overall. The junior leads the team with 16 overall singles victories. Weinberg went 1-1 in doubles play with partner Chad Faulk. He was also named the WAC Player of the Month for November.
OTHERS NOMINATED Frenso States Andy Sinn won in singles and doubles as Fresno State lost a narrow, 4-3, decision to No. 14 Clemson.
