Denver - SMUs Laura Cross has been selected as the womens Western Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week for February 28 March 6.
Cross, a sophomore from Waxahachie, Texas, tied for fourth individually with rounds of 77-74-82 (233) at the 12th-annual "Mo"Morial Invitational at the Traditions Golf Club in Bryan, Texas. Despite missing last weeks event with minor injuries suffered in a car accident, Cross finished just three strokes behind winner Samantha Richdale of Illinois State. She led the 26th-ranked Mustangs to their first win of the spring, storming back in the final round to overcome a nine-stroke deficit for the title. The Mustangs carded rounds of 318-309-315 (942) to edge host Texas A&M and Kent State by one stroke.
