DENVER Boise States Gabriel Wallin and UTEPs Erma-Gene Evans have been named the Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week.

Wallin, a senior from Sodertalje, Sweden, posted the number one collegiate mark in the javelin with a throw of 75.75m at the Golden Bear Invitational. Wallins throw was also a NCAA qualifying mark and broke the Edwards Stadium record on the Berkeley, Calif., campus. This was the first meet of the 2005 season for Wallin who is the defending NCAA National Champion in the javelin.

Evans, a sophomore from Castries, Saint Lucia, broke the Saint Lucia national record in the javelin for the third time this season with a throw of 52.68m. Her throw is the second best in school history, currently leads the WAC and ranks sixth best in the NCAA this year.
