Rice's DiSesa Earns Final Women's Tennis Player of the Week

DENVER Rices Blair DiSesa has been named the Western Athletic Conference Womens Tennis Player of the Week for the week of April 18. This is the final Player of the Week of the spring season.

DiSesa, a junior from Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., won two out of three matches on the week. She didnt drop a point on Thursday, winning two in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. She opened the day with a win over UTEPs Kendall Exelby and closed with a win over Texas-San Antonios Nadezda Rossikhina as the Owls blanked both teams. DiSesa teamed with Tracie Chong to defeat UTEPs Exelby and Katharine Palider 8-0 and UTSAs Rossikhina and Hasking 8-3. The junior finished the season with a 15-7 record, all at the top singles position.

OTHERS NOMINATED Frenso States Courtney Jantz had singles and doubles wins as Fresno State defeated both Cal Poly and Pacific Hawaiis Lauren Fitzgerald defeated Azusa Pacifics Jennifer Dao, 6-2, 6-1, for her career-best 19th singles victory SMUs Jenny Langer won her fifth match in a row at No. 2 singles over the weekend to help SMU close out the regular season on a high note.
