Boise State's Shields Earns Final Men's Tennis Player of the Week

DENVER Boise States Luke Shields has been named the Western Athletic Conference Mens Tennis Player of the Week for the week of April 18. This is the final Player of the Week of the spring season.

Shields, a freshman from Grand Junction, Colo., defeated BYU's Nima Roshan 7-6, 6-4, and Fresno States Jakob Cech 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, both at number one singles. Shields has a national ranking of No. 70 in singles. Shields is ranked 10th in doubles with Thomas Schoeck. Last week, the duo also won doubles matches at number one versus BYU and Fresno State. The Broncos defeated BYU, 4-3, and WAC-foe Fresno State, 5-2. Boise State closes out the regular season on April 20 at Hawaii. The Broncos remains in Honolulu for the WAC Championship, April 22-24.
