DENVER Hawaiis Kaulana Gould and Fresno States Jamie Southern were named the Western Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. This is Goulds first career honor. This is Southerns fifth pitching honor this season. She also has one WAC Player of the Week honor.

Gould, a freshman from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, has been an important part of the Rainbow Wahines current nine-game winning streak. The leftfielder had a huge series, hitting .700 (7-for-10) with five RBI. She was 5-for-6 with runners in scoring position. In the second game of the series, Gould was 3-for-3 with a double, a run scored and three RBI.

Southern, a senior from Clovis, Calif., had a historic weekend at home. While helping Fresno State to a 3-0 record against WAC opponent Tulsa, she became the WACs and the schools all-time career win leader. Coming into the week with 106 career victories, Southern opened the three-game series against the Golden Hurricane with a two-hit shutout for her 107th win. She posted her 17th win of the year to become the WACs all-time career win leader with 107 wins. The 13-strikeout game was Southerns eighth of the year and No. 50 of her career. In the second game, she made her third relief appearance of the season and picked up her second win of the day. After becoming the WACs outright win leader, Southern came right back on the same day to become Fresno States all-time career win leader with victory No. 108. She broke a 13-year old record held by former Bulldog All-America pitcher Terry Carpenter (107, 1989-92).

Other player of the week nominees included: Christina Clark, Fresno State and Brittany Lorenzen, Nevada.

Other pitcher of the week nominees included: Jordan McPherson, Nevada.
