He breaks the record of 204-7 set by Stellan Kjellander in 2002. His throw was also a NCAA regional qualifying mark. Jons mark is the third best collegiate throw of this season.Rices Yvonne Umeh, a senior from Pasadena, Texas, won both the 100 and 200 meters at the Rice Bayou Classic. Her time in the 100m of 11.88 was her best of the season and her 23.85 matched her regional qualifying time from a week ago. The Broncos posted three athletes in the Dandy Dozen with Mattias Jons in the hammer and Gabriel Wallin and Keron Francis in javelin. Jons ranks second, while Wallin is first in the country and Francis is fourth.The UTEP men place four in the top 12. Patrick Mutai is fourth in the steeplechase, while Japeth Ngojoy is 10th in the 10,000 meters. The Miner 4x100 relay team is 12th in the county. Mickael Hanany is ranked sixth in the high jump. For the Mustang women, Gaelle Niare is second in the country in the high jump.2005 WAC CHAMPIONSHIPThe 2005 Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship will be held at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium, May 11-14. Tulsa will hosts the conferences final championship of the year.
