DENVER Hawaiis Tasha Monroe has been named the Western Athletic Conference Womens Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week.
Monroe, a senior from Markham, Ontario, set a new school record in the 400m with a time of 53.81 winning the event at the Occidental Invitational. The time is also a NCAA regional qualifying mark. The time is a lifetime best and third fastest in the WAC this season. She broke the 23-year school record time of 54.29, formerly held by Angela Williams in 1982. Monroe also became Hawaiis third multi-event NCAA Regional qualifier, as she also qualified for the long jump earlier this season. She also won the 200m with a time of 24.06, which ranks second on the schools all-time list
