Hawai`ib(TM)s Kamana`o Named WAC Preseason Volleyball Player Of The Year

DENVER ?“s The WAC Preseason all-WAC volleyball team was announced today as voted on by the nine coaches. Hawai`i All-American Kanoe Kamana`o was named WAC Preseason Player of the Year. The junior setter was the 2004 WAC Player of the Year.

Hawai`i led the way placing five on the 12-player team. Along with Kamana`o, senior Victoria Prince earned all-WAC honors. Prince was the 2004 WAC Volleyball Tournament MVP. Also earning honors were sophomore Tara Hittle, senior Susie Boogaard and junior Alicia Arnott.

Nevada and WAC newcomer New Mexico State both placed two players. Nevada senior Salaia Salave`a, a 2004 first-team selection, and Karly Sipherd were both honored. Sipherd was named to the WAC all-Freshman team last season. Jackie Choi, the 2004 Sun Belts Newcomer of the Year, and junior Alice Borden both earned preseason all-WAC honors.

Boise State junior Cameron Flunder was the Broncos?™ only honoree. Rounding out the team are San Jose State libero Jessie Shull and Utah State senior Zuzana Cernianska, a first-team all Big West selection last season.
