RUSTON, La. ?“ Louisiana Tech baseball signee Nick Grunenwald has been named the Louisville Slugger Wisconsin Player of the Year in conjunction with the National High School Baseball Coaches Association, Baseball America and Louisville Slugger.
This is the second such honor for Grunenwald, who was also named hte Gatorade Wisconsin Player of the Year earlier this month.
A three-sport athlete at Merrill High School in Wisconsin, Grunenwald was signed during the early period as a pitcher and infielder.
Grunenwald was a 1st team all-conference selection as a junior after hitting .430. He was also named all-conference in football at running back after rushing for over 1,000 yards.
"He is a tremendous three-sport athlete," Simoneaux said. "He has great speed, 6.5 in the 60 and very athletic who will come in and compete for the starting job at shortstop."
Grunenwald was also a three-year starter on the basketball team at point guard.
