Hawai'i Ranked Fourth by CSTV/AVCA Preseason Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The CSTV/AVCA Women's Volleyball Division I Preseason Poll was released with the Hawai'i coming in ranked No. 4 with one first-place vote. The Rainbow Wahine finished the 2004 season with a 30-1 record, ranked No. 8 in the final poll. Nevada also received 35 points, ranking them 35 to start the season.

Hawai`i returns 12 letterwinners for the 2005 season, including all seven starters, while adding newcomers Sarah Mason, a transfer from Oregon, and incoming freshman Jamie Houston. Nevada finished second in the WAC?™s Western Division last season with a 10-3 mark and a 21-10 overall record. Seven starters return for the Wolf Pack, including all-WAC selections Salaia Salave`a, Tristin Johnson (formerly Adams) and Karly Sipherd.

Nebraska, UH's season-opening opponent in the AVCA/NACWAA Volleyball Showcase on Aug. 26, is the top-ranked team with 35 first-place votes. The other two teams in the Volleyball Showcase, Stanford and Penn State, are ranked Nos. 3 and 5, respectively.
