SPARTAN WOMEN; STRICKLAND WIN TITLES ?“ At the seventh annual "Cross Country-Only" National Championship hosted by Saint Louis University, the San Jose State women?™s team claimed its first team title of the 2005 season. The Spartans had all seven runners place in the top 11 Saturday, Sept. 24. It was also a great day for junior Tiffany Hall, who won her second meet on the year. Hall finished in first place for the second time this season with a time of 22:17.78. She was the WAC Xbox Live Athlete of the Week following a win at the UC Davis Aggie Open in Davis, Calif., on Sept. 10.

XBOX LIVE ATHLETES OF THE WEEK ?“ Louisiana Tech?™s Tim Marshall and San Jose State?™s Tiffany Hall have been named the Xbox Live Western Athletic Conference Cross Country Athletes of the Week.
Marshall, a freshman, finished two seconds behind Louisiana-Monroe?™s Maya Aden for second. Marshall earned a time of 26:24.62 in the five-mile event. All seven Tech runners placed in the top 10.
Hall, a junior from Vacaville, Calif., finished first at the Cross Country Only Invitational with a time of 22:17.78. En route to helping the Spartans to a first-place finish, she earns her second medalist honor this year.

Other women nominees included: Andrea Buckner, Fresno State; Sheena Twain, Hawai'i and Kali Baker, Nevada.
WAC ENTERS NEW ERA ?“ The WAC is a nine-team league with the additions of Idaho, New Mexico State and Utah State following the departures of Rice, SMU, UTEP and Tulsa. It is the third time in conference history that the WAC will be comprised of nine teams (1980-91 and 2000).

BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY?™S ?“ There have been four weeks of Xbox Live Athletes of the Week, and on the women?™s side, Tiffany reigns supreme. Tiffany Hall of Utah State and Tiffany Strickland both have earned the honor twice this season, the only recepients.

WAC CHAMPIONSHIP ?“ The 2005 WAC Cross Country Championship travels to Boise, Idaho. This year?™s championships will be held Saturday, Oct. 29 at Eagle Island State Park. There will be two new team champions crowned with the departure of the Rice men and SMU women.

NCAA REGIONALS ?“ The 2005 Cross Country Regionals will be held at nine sites throughout the country. They will all be held Saturday, Nov. 12. WAC teams will be represented in three locations. The West Region will be held in Palo Alto, Calif. (Stanford). The Mountain Region will be held in Provo, Utah (BYU), while Louisiana Tech will be the lone team in the South Central Regional (Baylor) in Waco, Texas.
