DENVER ?“ Idaho?™s Russ Winger and Louisiana Tech?™s Donesha Spivey have been named the Xbox Live Western Athletic Conference men?™s and women?™s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively.
Winger, a sophomore from Colorado Springs, Colo., won the shot put at the Cougar Indoor Invitational with an automatic qualifying mark of 60-10 and broke the meet record. Winger also finished third in the weight throw with a mark of 57-1 ?Ë.
Spivey, a senior from Palm Bay, Fla., finished second in the long jump at the Bayou Bengal Invitational with a mark of 20-1.75 (6.14m) to tie her for 19th best in the nation. Spivey also posted a time of 7.44 in the 60m, good for second and an NCAA provisional mark to tie her for 20th in the country.
