Xbox Live WAC Womenb(TM)s Basketball Player of the Week Announced

DENVER ?“ Louisiana Tech?™s Shan Moore has been named the Xbox Live Western Athletic Conference Women?™s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 30. This is the first Player of the Week honor for the junior.

Moore, a junior from Minden, La., averaged 19.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists, while leading Louisiana Tech to wins over previously WAC undefeated San Jose State and Fresno State. Moore shot 43 percent from the field (12-for-28) and 93 percent from the free throw line (13-for-14). She was also 1-for-1 from the three-point line. In Thursday's 74-51 win over San Jose State, Moore scored a career-high 21 points, while also grabbing a season-high tying eight rebounds. She also held San Jose State's Lamisha Augustine, who entered the game averaging 17.0 points per game, to a season-low eight points. In Saturday's 70-61 win over Fresno State, Moore led Louisiana Tech again with 17 points, a career-high tying seven assists and five rebounds. For the season, Moore averages 10.9 ppg and 4.9 rpg.

Other nominees included: Jackie Lee of Boise State averaged 18.3 ppg as the Broncos went 2-1 last week … Amy Parrish of Fresno State averaged 21.0 points and 7.1 rebounds as the Bulldogs went 1-1 last week … Brandi Fitzgerald of Nevada led the Wolf Pack to two wins averaging 20.0 ppg ... Jenean Ford of New Mexico State averaged 17.6 ppg as the Aggies defeated San Jose State and lost to Fresno State … Jenny Gross of Utah State matched her season high with 12 points in a loss to Hawai'i.
