DENVER ?“ Louisiana Tech forward Paul Millsap has been named the Xbox Live Western Athletic Conference men?™s basketball player of the week for January 2-9.
Millsap, a junior from Grambling, La. (Grambling HS), averaged 19.5 points, 15.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocked shots in a pair of road victories last week. On Thursday, he scored 18 points and grabbed 15 rebounds at Boise State. In the final seconds of the game, Millsap chased down a long offensive rebound and hit a three-pointer at the buzzer for a 75-72 win. He followed that up with 21 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks in a 66-61 win at Idaho on Saturday. For the week, Millsap shot 68.0 percent from the field (17-of-25). It is Millsap?™s fifth career WAC Player of the Week award and second this season.
