2006-07 Women's Basketball Media Poll

DENVER ? The Western Athletic Conference women’s basketball media poll has named Louisiana Tech as the favorite for the 2006-07 season. Lady Techster senior Ty Moore was selected the WAC’s preseason Player of the Year.

Louisiana Tech, the five-time defending regular-season champions, received all first place votes, earning 99 points. Fresno State was picked to finish second with 90 points followed by Hawai?i. Nevada was picked to finish fourth with 60 points, followed closely by Boise State with 54 points. In sixth was San Jose State with 53 points with New Mexico State following in seventh with 32 points. Idaho was slated to finish eighth with 29 points, and Utah State was picked to finish ninth with 22 points. 

Louisiana Tech senior forward Ty Moore was voted Player of the Year and is the on the preseason all-WAC team. She was named to the all-WAC second team during the 2005-06 season. Louisiana Tech’s Shan Moore was also named to the preseason all-WAC team. Ty and Shan Moore were the only two returning all-WAC honorees from last season. Last year’s WAC Newcomer of the Year, Brandi Fitzgerald of Nevada, Hawai?i’s Janevia Taylor and Fresno State’s Chantella Perera round out this year’s team.
