DENVER ? New Mexico State’s Kelly Freeburn has been named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week.
Freeburn, a junior from Virginia Beach, Va. (Navy), won four individual events in last weekend’s Aggie Invitational, a two-day double-dual meet that included Houston and Northern Colorado. On Friday, Freeburn won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 24.03 and the 100 free in 52.60. She also led off the winning 400 free relay team that posted a time of 3:37.25. On Saturday, she again won the 50 free (24.27) and the 100 free (52.39). Freeburn led off the 200 free relay team which won with a time of 1:40.38 and anchored the second place 200 medley relay team. The Aggies were 2-2 over the weekend, beating Northern Colorado both days and dropping both meets against Houston.
