Former WAC Pitcher Wins World Series Clincher

Jeff Weaver threw eight innings in St Louis' 4-2 series-ending win over Detroit on Friday night to give the Cardinals its 10th world championship.  Weaver allowed just four hits and two runs, one earned, while striking out nine to get the victory.

Weaver played at Fresno State from 1996-98 and set several records during that time.  He pitched 31 complete games, tying the WAC's record for a career, and had 100 strikeouts in conference play in 1998, setting a single-season WAC record.  Weaver was a first-team all-WAC selection in three seasons with the Bulldogs.
