DENVER ? Hawai?i’s Claudia Barsi has been named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week.
Barsi, a senior from Budapest, Hungary (Florida International), set two school records last weekend in a pair of dual meet wins over UC Santa Barbara. On Friday, she swam a 16:41.23 in the 1650-yard freestyle, breaking the school record by nearly four seconds. Her time is also a provisional NCAA qualifying time. On Saturday morning, Barsi swam the 1000 free, touching the wall in 10:01.02 to break the old school record by one-tenth of a second. She also had three second-place finishes over the weekend with times of 4:55.30 and 4:54.61 in the 500 free and a 2:03.33 in the 200 butterfly.
