DENVER ? Boise State’s Nick Travers and Fresno State’s Jennifer Shipley have been named the Western Athletic Conference Golfers of the Month for September.
Travers, a senior from Boise, Idaho (Borah HS), participated in the Vandal Fall Classic, Sept. 25-26, and won the tournament after carding an 8-under par, 205 (71-67-67). Travers began the final round one shot behind four leaders, but shot his second straight 67 to win by four strokes.
Shipley, a sophomore from Clovis, Calif. (Clovis HS), played in two tournaments last month. She opened the season at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic in Fort Collins, Colo., Sept. 11-12, where she finished in a tie for third with a three-round total of 1-under par, 215 (70-70-75). She led the tournament after the second round. A week later, she shot a 7-over par, 223 (76-74-73) to finish in a tie for 11th at the Salbasgeon Suites Invitational in Corvallis, Ore. Shipley led the Bulldogs in both tournaments, helping Fresno State finish fifth and seventh, respectively.
