New Mexico State’s Anne Fagegaltier and Roman Stoisavljevic have been named the Western Athletic Conference Tennis Players of the Month for the month of September. These are the first Tennis Players of the Month of the 2006 fall season.
Fagegaltier, junior from Montreauif, France won the Black Singles Draw at the Texas Tech Scarborough Specialities Open on Sept. 30. It was her second tournament title in as many weeks, as she and junior Estelle Guillaumond won the doubles title at the Aggie Fall Women’s Invitational on Sept. 24. Fagealtier is now 6-1 this fall in singles play and 5-2 in doubles competition.
Stoisavljevic, a sophomore from Zagreb, Croatia, finished second in the consolation round of the top draw of the 2006 Baylor Intercollegiates on Sept. 24. He finished the tournament with a 4-2 singles record and a 1-1 doubles record. On Sept. 17, Stoisavljevic won the singles draw of the 2006 Aggie Fall Invitational. He has a 9-2 singles record this fall and a 2-2 doubles record with Gustave Diep.
Other women’s tennis nominees: Tinesta Rowe of Fresno State defeated 53rd-ranked Sabrina Capannolo of Arizona State in three sets ... Maria Mizyuk of Nevada reached the finals at the Fresno State Bulldog Classic in her first collegiate tournament.
Other men’s tennis nominees: Andreas Weber of Hawai?i went 1-1 in singles and doubles at the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championship qualifying tournament.
