DENVER ? Nevada forward Nick Fazekas has been named the Western Athletic Conference men’s basketball player of the week for November 20-26.
Fazekas, a senior from Arvada, Colo. (Ralston Valley HS), averaged 28.5 points and 14.5 rebounds in a pair of wins last week. He scored 29 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, dished out three assists and blocked two shots in a win over UC-Irvine last Wednesday. On Saturday night, he added 28 points and 15 rebounds in a road game at Santa Clara. For the week, he was 20-of-33 (.606) from the field, 5-of-7 (.714) from three-point range and 12-of-15 (.800) from the free throw line. Fazekas leads the nation in rebounding with 14.8 boards per game and is seventh in scoring with 25.0 points per contest. It is Fazekas’ ninth career WAC Player of the Week award.
The other nominations were senior guard Matt Lojeski, Hawai?i; and junior guard Jaycee Carroll, Utah State.
