DENVER ?“ Hawai'i outfielder Robbie Wilder and right-handed pitcher Steven Wright have been named the Western Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for February 13-19.

Wilder, a senior from Anderson, Calif. (West Valley HS), hit .588 (10-17) in four wins for the Rainbows. He started the week with back-to-back 4-for-5 games versus Hawai'i Pacific and Loyola Marymount. In the second game against LMU, he was walked three times. He then finished the week going 2-for-4 with three runs, stole a base and was hit by a pitch in the final game against the Lions. For the week, Wilder scored 11 runs, was walked four times, stole two bases, was hit by a pitch twice and hit a double and a triple. It is Wilder?™s first career WAC Player of the Week award.

Wright, a junior from Moreno Valley, Calif. (Valley View HS), pitched a complete game and allowed just one unearned run on one hit in a 3-1 win at Loyola Marymount on Friday. He struck out 10 batters and walked none. It was the sixth nine-inning one-hitter in school history and the first since March 11, 1993 (Andrew McNally versus Washington State). It is Wright?™s first career WAC Pitcher of the Week award.

The other player of the week nominations were Fresno State sophomore outfielder Ozzie Lewis, Nevada senior outfielder Shawn Scobee, New Mexico State senior shortstop Abe Aguirre, and Sacramento State senior second baseman Pat Keiper.

The other pitcher of the week nominations were Fresno State junior Eddie Romero, Nevada senior Tim Schoeninger, New Mexico State junior Jason Conner, Sacramento State senior Matt Campbell, and San Jose State senior Branden Dewing.
