DENVER ?“ Fresno State?™s Lucia Sainz has been named the Xbox Live Western Athletic Conference Women?™s Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 13.
Sainz, a senior from Barcelona, Spain, was a key factor in the Bulldogs' two victories over No. 20 William and Mary and No. 37 New Mexico. Fresno State edged William and Mary 4-3 on March 8 behind Sainz's dominating 6-3, 6-2 win over Emmy Fritz-Krockow at No. 4 singles. Sainz and doubles partner Katharina Winterhalter also won in doubles versus the Tribe. On March 12, after Fresno State had lost the doubles point, Sainz rolled past Nora Quintal of New Mexico in straight sets to help the Bulldogs past the Lobos 5-2.
