DENVER ?“ New Mexico State?™s Roman Stoisavljevic has been named the Xbox Live Western Athletic Conference Men?™s Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 13. This is the first honor for the Aggie this spring.
Stoisavljevic, a freshman from Kuslanova, Croatia, finished undefeated in the Aggies' two matches last weekend as they posted a 7-0 win over Nevada and a 6-1 win over Montana. Playing at the no. 2 doubles position alongside partner Tim America, Roman defeated Nevada's Guillaume Tonelli and Eldar Dzhafarov 8-4 and then dropped Felipe Raw and Brady Tommerup of Montana 8-4. Playing at the No. 3 singles position, he won both of his matches in straight sets over Dzhafarov of Nevada (6-0, 7-6) and Colin Dektar of Montana (6-2, 6-4).
Other men?™s tennis nominees: Luke Shields of Boise State was 2-0 in singles and doubles with partner Thomas Schoeck … Sergiu Modoc of Fresno State won a straight-set match as the Bulldogs beat Middle Tennessee ... Guillaume Tonelli of Nevada won two of three singles matches.
