XBOX LIVE GOLFER OF THE WEEK ?“ Fresno State?™s Jennifer Shipley has been named the Xbox Live Western Athletic Conference Women?™s Golfer of the Week.
Shipley, a freshman from Clovis, Calif., recorded her best collegiate finish at the UNLV Spring Invitational. She shot round of 71-72-75=218 (+2) to tie for seventh. Shipley led the Bulldogs to a sixth-place finish in the 18-team field. It was her second top-10 finish in as many tournaments.
WISE FINISHES SIXTH AT BETSY RAWLS ?“ New Mexico State junior, Lehua Wise, finished in a tie for sixth and the New Mexico State women?™s golf team placed 12th at the 2006 Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational at the University of Texas Golf Course Sunday afternoon. Wise who was the Aggies?™ top golfer all weekend, moved three spots up the leader board Sunday as she fired a 4-over-par 76 to finish with a three-round score of 13-over-par 229. Wise started the final round in great form as she recorded back-to-back birdies on the par-5 11th and the par-3 12th to move to 2-under through the first seven holes. Wise, who finished just nine strokes off the lead, notched two more birdies on the front nine, but a triple bogey on the par-4 seventh dropped her out of the running.

It is the third time in conference history that the WAC will be comprised of nine teams (1980-91 and 2000). Idaho and New Mexico State sponsor women?™s golf.
WAC CHAMPIONSHIP ?“ The 2006 WAC Championship travels to San Jose, Calif., and Golf Club at Boulder Ridge. This year?™s Championship will be held April 24-26, 2006. The Golf Club at Boulder Ridge is a mountain style course, constructed on a ridge. The course is designed by Bradford Benz and opened for play September 2001. Extensive mounding on the open fairways gives this course a "linksy" feel. Water comes into play on two holes. The greens are large, averaging 6,000 square feet, and fast. Bouder Ridge plays from 5,005 to 6,923-yards and there are five sets of tees to challenge all skill levels.
