XBOX LIVE GOLFER OF THE WEEK ?“ New Mexico State?™s Matt Edwards has been named the Xbox Live Western Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week.

Edwards, a junior from Las Vegas, Nev., led New Mexico State to its fourth top-five finish of the season as the Aggies placed fourth at the 2006 Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas. Edwards, who was the top Aggie finisher, recorded his best finish as an Aggie as he placed in a tie for fourth. After opening the tournament with a five-over 77, Edwards bounced back to tie a tournament record with a 7-under-par 65. Edward?™s 65 tied golfing professionals Tom Kite, Phil Blackmar, Dean Pappas, Ryan Palmer and several others with the record-setting performance. In round three, Edwards kept up his hot play as he posted a one-under 73 to finish the tournament with a one-under 215. Edwards now has two top finishes in six tournaments this season and his 65 is the lowest score shot by an Aggie since Trey Pugh posted a 65 in the opening round of the 2000 NMSU/Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate.
