MacFarlane, a senior from Ogden, Utah, won her singles match at No. 2 over Pacific?™s Carla Tamborini, 6-2 6-1, and with doubles partner Megan Biorkman, defeated Pacific?™s Tamborini and Jolanta Twarowska 8-1 at number one doubles. The Broncos went on to defeat No. 70 Pacific by a score of 6-1.

RAINBOW WAHINE CONCLUDE HOME STAND ?“ The University of Hawai'i women?™s tennis team will complete its March homestand with two home dual matches, Friday against Wisconsin Green-Bay and Monday against UC Davis. The Rainbow Wahine (0-15-1) will be looking for their first dual match victory of the 2006 season.

Throughout a wet and rainy March, the Rainbow Wahine had to deal with many tough matches. After winning the doubles point against the Big 12?™s Iowa State Cyclones, mother nature took over, and the match was cancelled. Against the Portland Pilots, UH had a great chance to earn its first victory. With the dual match tied at 3-3, junior Florence Wasko was ahead of Portland?™s Anna Gullickson in the third set, 6-7 (4), 6-3, 1-0, but due to persistent rain, the match could not be finished ending the dual in a draw.
Hawai'i dropped matches against then No. 71 Washington State, the Big 12?™s Oklahoma Sooners and then-No. 54 Texas Tech Red Raiders. Most recently Rainbow Wahine lost a heartbreaker to Wyoming, 4-3. After sweeping the three doubles matches, UH dropped two singles matches that went to the third set. Hawai`i also lost a tough match to WAC foe, New Mexico State, 5-2. After winning the doubles point, UH came up short in four marathon matches that went into the third set.

WAC TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD IN BOISE ?“ There is one change from the fall season. The Western Athletic Conference Tournament will be held in Boise, Idaho on the campus of Boise State, April 20-23. The 2005 champion, Fresno State, will look to win its fourth-straight title in Boise. Last season, the Bulldogs took the title in Honolulu at Hawai'i.

BOISE STATE PLAYING TOUGH ?“ The Broncos (12-3) jumped 19 places in the ITA Fila Rankings this week, from No. 73 to No. 54. The women have given up only two points in their last five victories, blanking Montana and Lewis-Clark State, 7-0, and knocking off No. 70 Pacific, 6-1. The continued this week with a 7-0 blanking of Cornell and a 6-1 win over Cal State Fullerton.

NEW MEXICO STATE UNDEFEATED AGAINST WAC SCHOOLS ?“ After dropping a weather-shortened match to BYU-Hawai?™i in yesterday?™s action, the New Mexico State women?™s tennis team returned to their winning ways as they dropped WAC foe Hawai?™i 5-2, Tuesday afternoon. The Aggies remain undefeated in WAC matches at 4-0 while improving to 10-6 on the season. The Aggies also have WAC wins against Nevada, Idaho and Utah State.

This is the fourth time this season that the Spartans did not let their opponent score a single point in a match. In doubles action San Jose State swept all three matches for the first point of the game. At the number one spot Ashley Tavita and Amber Silverstone defeated their opponents, 8-3.
