DENVER ?“ Boise State?™s Staffan Jonsson and Louisiana Tech?™s Donesha Spivey have been named the Xbox Live Western Athletic Conference men?™s and women?™s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively.
Jonsson, a senior from Malmo, Sweden, won the discus at the Hornet Invitational with a NCAA regional-qualifying mark of 195-1 (59.46m). His mark was a personal best and it ranked fifth in the country for marks prior to last week.
Spivey, a senior from Palm Bay, Fla., earned a school record, regional qualifying mark and a wind legal, first-place finish at the LSU Relays in the 100m dash. Spivey posted a time of 11.55 seconds. She was also part of the women?™s 4x200m relay that finished second with a school-record time of 1:344.25.
