SPARTANS CLAIM DUCK TITLE ?“ Carmina Calle holed a 40-foot birdie putt on her final hole giving San Jose State a one-stroke victory at the Oregon Duck Invitational women?™s golf tournament. The Spartans posted a 54-hole total of 918 on the par 72, 6,191-yard Emerald Valley Golf Course. Oregon State was second at 919. Idaho at 923, Washington State at 924 and Fresno State at 932 rounded out the top five teams in the 16-team field.

This year?™s Championship will be held April 24-26, 2006. The Golf Club at Boulder Ridge is a mountain style course, constructed on a ridge. The course is designed by Bradford Benz and opened for play September 2001. Extensive mounding on the open fairways gives this course a "linksy" feel. Water comes into play on two holes. The greens are large, averaging 6,000 square feet, and fast. Bouder Ridge plays from 5,005 to 6,923-yards and there are five sets of tees to challenge all skill levels.

De Leon, a freshman from Saugus, Calif., led the Wolf Pack, shooting a 22-over, 238 to finish tied for sixth place at the Anteater Invitational. She led Nevada to a third-place finish.
