Xbox Live WAC Womenb(TM)s Tennis Player of the Week Announced

DENVER ?“ Boise State?™s Hadley MacFarlane has been named the Xbox Live Western Athletic Conference Women?™s Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 20. This is her second-straight honor for the spring.

MacFarlane, a senior from Ogden, Utah, Boise State was undefeated in both singles and doubles in four matches this past week. MacFarlane improved to 24-9 in singles and 22-6 in doubles with teammate Megan Biorkman, leading the Broncos to victories over No. 70 Pacific (6-1), Cornell (7-0), Cal State Fullerton (6-1), and Missouri State (7-0). MacFarlane won all of her singles matches in straight sets, defeating Pacific's Carla Tamborini, 6-2, 6-1, Cornell's Kasia Preneta, 6-3, 6-1, Cal State Fullerton's Ruya Inapulat, 6-1, 6-3, and Missouri State's Elizabeth Garza, 6-1, 6-4. In doubles, MacFarlane and Biorkman knocked off Tamborini and Twarowska of Pacific 8-1, Edinson and Miller of Cornell 8-2, Inapulat and Le of Cal State Fullerton 9-8, and Garza and Kuruc of Missouri State 8-2.

MacFarlane has now won seven straight-singles matches, and five consecutive doubles matches with Biorkman. The Broncos, currently on a six-match winning streak, are now 14-3 and ranked No. 54 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Other women?™s tennis nominees: Courtney Koenigsfeld of San Jose State was 3-1 in doubles and 3-0 in singles last week.
