Hawai`ib(TM)s Tyleen Tausaga and New Mexico Stateb(TM)s Seagraves Named Xbox Live WAC Softball Players of the Week

DENVER ?“ Hawai`i?™s Tyleen Tausaga and New Mexico State?™s Sarah Seagraves have been named the Western Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. Tausaga and Seagraves are both being honored for the first time this season.

Tausaga, a junior from Honolulu, Hawaii, hit .444 as the Rainbow Wahine went 2-1 in the rain-shortened Pepsi Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament. Tausaga went 3-for-3 with two three-run home runs. For the tourney, she had a slugging percentage of 1.111. She had four hits and was walked 10 times. The Rainbow Wahine also had a win against Florida Atlantic to end the tournament.

Seagraves, a freshman from Edmond, Okla., enjoyed a perfect 4-0 record with two shutouts at the UCF Invitational, allowing just two earned runs in 24.2 innings for a 0.57 ERA. She was named to the All-Tournament team and is now just two wins and eight strikeouts shy of fifth place in the NMSU career record book in those categories. On the season, Seagraves is 10-4 with an ERA of 1.53.

Other player of the week nominees included: Haley Perkins of Fresno State hit .400 with six hits and four RBI in three games … Brittany McConnell of San Jose State hit .333 with seven RBI ... Stacey Lien of New Mexico State batted a team-high .529 to lead the Aggies to a 5-0 weekend at the UCF Invitational in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
