XBOX LIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK  Louisiana Tech's Tasha Williams has been named the Xbox Live Western Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of March 6. This is the final Player of the Week of the 2005-06 season.
Williams, a senior from Kinglsand, Ark., averaged 8.0 points, 9.5 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 steals, while leading Louisiana Tech to two victories and the 2006 Western Athletic Conference title. The guard registered only the third triple-double in Louisiana Tech history by recording 10 points, 11 assists and 10 steals in a 91-52 win over Hawai'i Saturday night. It was the first triple-double in the WAC this season. She also had six points, eight assists and six rebounds in a 55-40 win over Idaho earlier in the week. Williams' 10 steals tied the Louisiana Tech single game record which she already owned and her 11 assists were a career high. Both the 10 steals and the 11 assists were a individual season best by a WAC player this year. The 10 steals was one shy of the WAC record.

Other nominees included: Amy Parrish of Fresno State scored 37 points with 17 rebounds as the Bulldogs secured the No. 2 seed in the WAC Tournament ... Leilani Mitchell of Idaho averaged 17.0 points as the Vandals split game to end the regular season ... Jenean Ford of New Mexico State scored a career-high 24 points in an overtime loss to Hawai'i.

FRESNO STATE'S SWEARENGIN NAMED WAC PLAYER OF THE YEAR  Senior Mirenda Swearengin captured the 2005-06 WAC Player of the Year honor. Louisiana Tech had won the last for Players of the Year (Cheryl Ford 2001-02, 2002-03; Amisha Carter, 2003-04; Tasha Williams, 2004-05). Swearengin and Amy Parrish were both named to the first team. It was the first time in Bulldog history that two players were named to the all-WAC first team.

Swearengin, who transferred from New Mexico Junior College prior to the start of last year, is averaging 12.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game in 20 games played. She has scored in double-figures 15 times and ranks second on the club in assists (83) and steals (49).
