DENVER ?“ Fresno State?™s Katharina Winterhalter has been named the Xbox Live Western Athletic Conference Women?™s Tennis Player of the Week for the week of April 3. This is her second-straight honor and third for the spring.
Winterhalter, a senior from Heitersheim, Germany, Fresno State senior Katharina Winterhalter became only the third women's tennis player in school history to record 100 career singles victories. She beat LMU's Sladjana Kos 6-3, 5-7, (10-8) after being down 8-4 in the super-tiebreaker to capture her 100th victory. She earned a No. 96 ranking this week, going 4-0 in singles and 3-1 in doubles. In singles, she improved to 22-8 overall and 15-5 in dual matches. In doubles she owns a 31-8 overall mark with a 15-5 dual match record. Winterhalter needs only three singles victories pass Liesl Fichtbauer (No. 2 all-time) in the school record books.
