AGGIES CLAIM TEAM, INDIVIDUAL TITLES ?“ New Mexico State?™s Danny Bowen and Ben Kreger began the final round at the Cowboy Classic tied for first-place at three-under par and after a grueling final 18 holes that is how they finished, tied for the individual title at 5-under par, 205. This is the first collegiate victory for both golfers and only the second time in school history that two Aggies shared a tournament title. (Tom Connell & Peter Turner ?“ New Mexico Collegiate ?“ 1971). As a team, the Aggies also finished with the team title, beating out former conference foe Western Kentucky (-1) by three strokes for a final tournament tally of four-under par, 836.

FRESNO STATE?™S ANTHONY CLAIMS SMC INVITE ?“ Fresno State?™s Jason Anthony captured his first collegiate tournament title at the Saint Mary?™s Invitational and helped Fresno State (908) move up to finish third in the 19-team field. Anthony shot a final-round 75 to maintain his hold on first place through two rounds. He made 10 birdies in the tournament en route to a 218 (+2) overall score.

WAC ENTERS NEW ERA ?“ The WAC is a nine-team league with the additions of Idaho, New Mexico State and Utah State following the departures of Rice, SMU, UTEP and Tulsa. It is the third time in conference history that the WAC will be comprised of nine teams (1980-91 and 2000). Idaho, New Mexico State and Utah State all sponsor men?™s golf.

WAC CHAMPIONSHIP ?“ The 2006 Wells Fargo WAC Championship travels to Boise, Idaho and Crane Creek Country Club. This year?™s Championship will be held May 1-3, 2006.
