Xbox Live WAC Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week Awarded

DENVER ?“ Boise State?™s Mattias Jons and Nevada?™s Caira Hane have been named the Xbox Live Western Athletic Conference men?™s and women?™s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively.

Jons, a senior from Bjuraker, Sweden, continued to re-write the Boise State record book for the hammer when he won the event with school record mark of 230-8 (70.30m). His throw, which was the first time he his career to surpassed the 70-meter mark, broke his previous school record of 227-10 (69.44m) set during the 2005 season. The throw was also the third best collegiate hammer throw in the country this season.

Hane, a ssenior from Hillsboro, Ore., finished first in the hammer throw at the Woody Wilson Classic with a NCAA provisional throw of 57.33m. She also finished second in the javelin with a provisional throw of 45.66m. The first place athlete was unattached.
