BOISE STATE RANKS 21ST NATIONALLY ?“ The Boise State men enter the Trackwire.com weekly poll at No. 21. The Broncos are led by head coach Mike Maynard, the 2006 Indoor Track and Field WAC Coach of the Year. The Broncos also have three men ranked in the Dandy Dozen in Steffan Jonsson (Discus), Mattias Jons (Hammer) and Keron Francis (Javelin).

Moore, a junior from Visalia, Calif., grabbed Fresno State?™s only first-place finish on the men?™s side last weekend at the Cal-Nevada Championships. On the cusp of qualifying for NCAA Regionals all season, Moore finally broke through when he ran a season-best 51.85 to win the title in the 400-meter hurdles. The time is the best in the WAC this season.
Anane, a junior from El Paso, Texas, shattered the school record in the long jump with a leap of 21-01. Anane?™s mark broke Andrea Lee?™s record of 20-05.25, set back in 2002. Three of her four jumps were all further then the old school record. Anane also competed strong in the triple jump with a personal best leap of 42- 8.75, while finishing second in the 100-meter hurdles in a school-record time of 14.34, also a personal best.

MenWAC CHAMPIONSHIP TRAVELS TO THE ISLAND ?“ The 2006 edition of the WAC Championship travels to Honolulu and Cooke Field. The meet will be held Feb. 10-13 with the multi-events on May 10 and 11, and the preliminaries and finals on May 12 and 13. The Boise State men and Louisiana Tech women look for the season sweep as both won the indoor crowns. Louisiana Tech is back to defend its title, where departed member, UTEP, won on the men?™s side last season.

WAC ENTERS NEW ERA ?“ The WAC is a nine-team league with the additions of Idaho, New Mexico State and Utah State following the departures of Rice, SMU, UTEP and Tulsa. It is the third time in conference history that the WAC will be comprised of nine teams (1980-91 and 2000).
