Men's Golf Hits Home Stretch Before WAC Championship
XBOX LIVE GOLFER OF THE WEEK ?“ Fresno State?™s Jason Anthony has been named the Xbox Live Western Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week.

Anthony, a senior from Fairfield, Calif., acquired his best finish of the season with seventh place at last week?™s Arizona National Invitational Tournament. He finished two strokes behind the winner with an overall 4-under 212 total. He shot an opening-round 67 that included seven birdies, followed by a second-round 73 to stay in the top five. In his last round, he birdied holes 14, 15 and 16 to shoot a final-round 72. Anthony led Fresno State all three days during the tournament which boasted nine top-25 teams.

Others nominated: Matt Hastings, Boise State; Adam Hagen, Nevada and Danny Bowen, New Mexico State.

WAC ENTERS NEW ERA ?“ The WAC is a nine-team league with the additions of Idaho, New Mexico State and Utah State following the departures of Rice, SMU, UTEP and Tulsa. It is the third time in conference history that the WAC will be comprised of nine teams (1980-91 and 2000). Idaho, New Mexico State and Utah State all sponsor men?™s golf.

WAC CHAMPIONSHIP ?“ The 2006 Wells Fargo WAC Championship travels to Boise, Idaho and Crane Creek Country Club. This year?™s Championship will be held May 1-3, 2006.
