ThesBoise State men and Louisiana Tech women won the 2006 WAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. On the men's side, Boise State repeated as Champions, earning 186 points to lead both Utah State andsIdaho who scored 127 and 124 points, respectively. Fresno State finished fourth with 108, while Louisiana Tech rounded out the field with 104. On the women's side, Louisiana Tech also repeated, gathering 174 points to distance the field. Idaho finished second with 145 points, while Utah State was third (113.5). Taking fourth was Nevada with 100.5, with Fresno State (85.5) and New Mexico State (73) right behind. Rounding out the field was Boise State with 72 points and Hawai'i with 53.5.

BOISE STATE REMAINS IN TOP 25 ?“ The Boise State men?™s team continues to be ranked, coming in the Trackwire.com top 25 at 23. The Broncos are led by three members of the Dandy Dozen, Trackwire?™s ranking system. Mattias Jons is ranked fourth in the hammer, with Keron Francis coming in third in the javelin and Steffan Jonsson ranking seventh in the discus.
WAC IN THE DANDY DOZEN ?“ Trackwire.com features 12 WAC track and field stars in this weeks Dandy Dozen rankings. Idaho?™s Russ Winger is ranked fourth in the shot put and sixth in the discus. Boise State?™s Mattias Jons is fourth in the hammer, while fellow Broncos, Keron Francis, is third in the javelin and Steffan Jonsson is seventh in the discus. For the women, Idaho?™s Dee Olsen ranks ninth in the 1,500 meters and fellow Vandal Bevin Kennelly is seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Louisiana Tech?™s 4x400-meter relay squad sits 12th, while Techster Nina Gilbert is 10th in the 400m. Fresno State's Mallory Webb is ranked 12th in the javelin.

MenWAC CHAMPIONSHIP TRAVELS TO THE ISLAND ?“ The 2006 edition of the WAC Championship travels to Honolulu and Cooke Field. The meet will be held Feb. 10-13 with the multi-events on May 10 and 11, and the preliminaries and finals on May 12 and 13. The Boise State men and Louisiana Tech women look for the season sweep as both won the indoor crowns. Louisiana Tech is back to defend its title, where departed member, UTEP, won on the men?™s side last season.
