WAC Track and Field Competes at NCAA Regionals
There are four sites selected for the NCAA Regional Championships. Each site will host May 26-27, 2006. The WAC has placed a total of 76 student-athletes in the regionals, along with four relay teams. The following are the sites and information for WAC teams.

Mideast Region
Host: University of Tennessee, Knoxville - Knoxville, Tenn.
West Region
Host: Brigham Young University - Provo, Utah

WAC CHAMPIONSHIP ?“ The Boise State men and Louisiana Tech women won the 2006 WAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. On the men?™s side, Boise State repeated as Champions, earning 186 points to lead both Utah State and Idaho who scored 127 and 124 points, respectively. Fresno State finished fourth with 108, while Louisiana Tech rounded out the field with 104. On the women?™s side, Louisiana Tech also repeated, gathering 168 points to distance the field. Idaho finished second with 144 points, while Utah State was third (113.5). Taking fourth was Nevada with 89.5, with New Mexico State (73) and Boise State (72) right behind. Rounding out the field was Fresno State wth 69.5 points and Hawaii with 48.5.

BOISE STATE REMAINS IN TOP 25 ?“ The Boise State men?™s team continues to be ranked, coming in the Trackwire.com top 25 at 22. The 2006 WAC Champions are led by three members of the Dandy Dozen, Trackwire?™s ranking system. Mattias Jons is ranked third in the hammer, with Keron Francis coming in third in the javelin and Steffan Jonsson ranking 12th in the discus.

WAC IN THE DANDY DOZEN ?“ Trackwire.com features eight WAC track and field stars in this weeks Dandy Dozen rankings. Idaho?™s Russ Winger is ranked sixth in the shot put. Boise State?™s Mattias Jons is third in the hammer, while fellow Broncos, Keron Francis, is third in the javelin and Steffan Jonsson is 12th in the discus. For the women, Idaho?™s Dee Olsen ranks fifth in the 1,500 meters and fellow Vandal Bevin Kennelly is 10th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Louisiana Tech?™s Miraim Barnes is sixth in the 400m Hurdles, while Boise State?™s Eleni Kafourou is ninth in the triple jump.
