DENVER ?“ Boise State?™s Wijnand Rijkenberg and Hawai'i?™s Patricia Gauthier have been named the Xbox Live Western Athletic Conference men?™s and women?™s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively.
Rijkenberg, a sophomore from Krommeni, Netherlands, ran the second fastest 1,500-meter time in school history with a time of 3:46.02, which was also a NCAA regional qualifying mark. Rijkenberg placed third in the race at the Oregon Twilight.
Gauthier, a sjunior from Ottowa, Ontario, broke the school record in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.96m (13-0) at Hawai'i?™s Sunset Meet #9. Gauthier held the previous record of 3.81m. The height is the second-best mark in the WAC.
