DENVER – Fresno State’s James McCurley and San Jose State’s Tiffany Hall have been named the Western Athletic Conference men and women’s cross country Athletes of the Week, respectively.
McCurley, a freshman from Clovis, Calif. (Buchanan), made his Bulldog debut as the top collegiate finisher at the Stanislaus Invitational. McCurley led the Bulldogs with a time of 26:12 in the 8k event. Fresno State made its return in cross country after a three-year hiatus.
Hall, a senior from Vacaville, Calif. (Vacaville), won the individual race by over five seconds, breaking her personal best by 14.5 seconds. Hall posted a time of 17:37.90 in the 5k USF Invitational at Golden Gate Park. The win is Hall’s third win in her last six races.
Other men’s nominees included: Vance Twitchell, Utah State.
Other women’s nominees included: Zinzi Evans, Fresno State and Amy Egan, Utah State.
