DENVER ? Hawai’i sophomore Emma Berry has been named the Western Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week, for the week of Oct. 1.
Berry, a native of Norman, Okla. (Blue Valley Northwest/Indiana), was the top performer for the Rainbow Wahine in two dual meets versus Arizona State at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex in Honolulu. Berry captured first-place in five of the six individual events she competed in over the weekend, touching the wall first in the 1,000-meter freestyle (10:13:17), 500-meter freestyle (4:58.82), 400 IM (4:28.22), 800-meter freestyle (9:24.92), and 400-meter freestyle (4:32.67). She also placed fourth in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:12.37.
The Rainbow Wahine will have the month of October off in preparation for both the Lincoln Aquatic Shootout in Irvine, Calif., and the USC Diving Invitational in Los Angeles, which will take place the first weekend of November.
